Regular Full Time Positions
Title: Fire Station Custodian; Department: Public Safety;
Starting Pay: $11.00 per hour; Schedule: Monday – Friday;
Position Description: To maintain all fire and rescue response equipment so that they meet NFPA regulations, and to keep assigned fire trucks clean, fueled and ready to respond to an emergency. Also responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of assigned station(s), including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping and yard work. This is an extremely important position, as the lives of the fire fighters depend on their equipment being properly maintained.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill and ability to drive a fire truck. Basic knowledge of engine mechanics (how to check fluid levels and the danger that low levels can cause). Good knowledge of fire department rules, regulations and operating procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL. Ability to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier;
Required Education, Experience and Training: High school diploma or GED and possession of a valid Alabama Class A Commercial Driver’s License (must obtain within 90 days of employment). Some fire-fighting experience desired but not required.

Title: Recreation Center Director;
Department: Parks and Recreation;
Starting Pay: $32,000 - $36,000 per year; Schedule: Monday – Friday (weekends and evening when required);
Position Description: Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a recreation center and supervising subordinate personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Substantial knowledge of civic activities and programs for all age groups; Thorough knowledge of organizing volunteer groups; Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation administration. Knowledge of the management and organization techniques required to administer programs and events. Knowledge of first-aid and CPR practices and procedures and ADA and OSHA guidelines. Ability to effectively deal with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds; Ability to establish and maintain effective communications with patrons involved in the Center’s recreational, fitness and/or health programs; Ability to administer basic first aid and CPR if necessary;
Required Education, Experience and Training: Must possess certification as a personal trainer from a nationally recognized association, (AFTA, ACE, NETA, etc.) Also required: Associate’s Degree in Recreation or closely related field; AND a minimum of two (2) years experience in recreation management; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Title: Unit Director II;
Location: Fairhope Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama;
Starting Pay: $27,000 - $34,500; Hours: 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday hours as needed; summer: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This schedule will vary slightly based on need and management decision. Extra hours as needed such as teen programs, early bird program, sleep-overs, camping, etc.
Duties: Manages a B&G Club and supervises the staff; monitors the Club’s programs to insure proper planning, organization, implementation, and results; maintains program records, a budget, and prepares reports as needed; provides counseling at times to youth and their families; recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers; recruits and develops a Unit Board for Club assistance; raises 10% of budges per fiscal year not including Capital Campaign donations and not to include amount required of Metro Board Members; represents the Unit Club and/or B&G Clubs with civic clubs, the public, etc.; attends regular meetings and training as needed; purchases or recommends the purchase of equipment and supplies; oversees the upkeep of the Unit/Club; pursues certifications for professional development offered through B&G Academy training; and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and three years of directly related work experience with above average performance and experience in the following areas: supervision of staff, community development, and program planning and implementation, and budget management; good organizational and decision making skills; good communication skills including writing skills; and ability to instruct youth; and computer skills to include: word processing and use of internet. Regular Part-Time Positions
Title: Van Driver (School Year Only);
Location: Fairhope Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama; Starting Pay: $6.25 - $7.80;
Schedule: Monday thru Friday 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Schedule may vary slightly based on need and management decision. Extra as needed.)
Duties: Drives a van to transport youth to and from the program as needed; performs pre and post trip checks on the vehicle(s) and ensures that the vehicle is properly equipped; ensures the vehicle is left clean and fueled; monitors youth behavior in transport to ensure safety and ensures safety of occupants; if needed assists in chaperoning youth and assisting with other duties as needed when not driving; and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent; minimum of two years of driving experience for a business (CDL preferred); valid driver’s license and a clear driving record; CPR and First Aid trained preferred; and good communication skills.
